Dario Cautious Over New Signings

As the only club in League Two yet to bring in new faces this summer, frustration amongst fans is understandably building.

Six trialists, including Gillingham rejects Josh Gowling and Mark McCammon, have come and gone in the last week leaving only Mat Bailey and goalkeeper Alan Martin looking for a contract in tomorrow afternoon’s friendly against Wolves.

Despite concern that the current squad may well be our lot for the new season, Dario is insisting he is still looking out for a new players, which are bound to include a centre back and striker.

However, the old master says he only wants the right players, telling the Official Site:

‘The quest goes on for us to bring new players into the club, but I am determined not to make a mistake with any of them.

‘I made the decision on the trialists we had after watching them on Monday and now only the goalkeeper and Mat Bailey are here with us.’

Well, after more than two months of, hopefully, searching; we’re certainly being thorough enough not to make mistakes.

DG added that a loan signing may be on the cards after a suggestion from right-hand man Neil Baker; Dario’s set to enquire this afternoon about the un-named player.

With good contacts in the Premier League in the shape of Chelsea’s assistant first team coach Steve Holland and Man City coach David Platt, you’d certainly think we’re in a stronger position than most at our level to pull off a coup or two.

For now though the wait goes on… and on.

And on.
