CSC: Strikers Braces See Alex Progress Over Alsager

|

Two goals each for strikers Connor Salisbury and Tyreece Onyeka saw Crewe Alexandra beat Alsager Town to advance in this season’s Cheshire Senior Cup.

Manager Alex Morris named Will Jaaskelainen in goal behind a back 5 of Max Woodcock, Sam Bhatti, Zak Kempster-Down, Sean Lawton and Matus Holicek. In midfield were Josh Lundstram, Regan Griffiths and Charlie Finney with Salisbury and Onyeka up front. On the bench were Ben Wood, Alex Higgins, Sam Crolla and goalkeeper Sam Booth. Former Alex youngster Jack Marrow started in the visitors’ back-line.

The hosts would take the lead in the 7th minute as Tabiner’s through-ball was converted by Salisbury from close range before the midfielder would hit the post with an effort from outside the area in the 28th minute. The second goal wouldn’t take long in coming as the Welsh striker would add his second of the night, converting from a few yards out from Lundstram’s square pass after a corner was taken short before Lundstram would set up his second of the night to set up Onyeka to score from 6 yards out.

The fourth goal would come 5 minutes after the break as a cross from the right went all the way through to Onyeka to score as the Alex would progress easily.

The next games at this level see a trip to Barnsley next Tuesday before hosting Sheffield United on Wednesday 9th Feb (both kicking off at 1:00 pm).
