Crewe Alexandra make the long trip to face Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium this evening.

“We’ve got to come out fighting. Saturday really hurt them” – Steve Davis

New signing Ryan Lowe will be involved
for the visitors after rejoining the club on loan from Bury until January.

However, Brad Inman is considered doubtful with a series of knocks picked
up over recent weeks, while Lauri Dalla Valle (neck), Harry Davis (knee), David Fox (back) and Dave Richards (foot) remain sidelined.

“I’ve always shown belief and trust in the players and we have to now roll our sleeves up and fight,” manager Steve Davis told the Stoke Sentinel. “This is a time when you’re tested as a character and as a person, and we’ve been tested for the last few years too.

“We’ve got to come out fighting. Saturday really hurt them – the 10 or 15 minutes in the dressing room after the game nobody moved and nobody said anything,” he added. “I think they were in shock to have been involved in such a performance, and they were still quiet yesterday morning, so it was my job to lift them and get them ready to go again.”

Hosts Colchester are actually without a victory in their previous four games and may recall experienced striker Chris Porter after coming on as substitute and scoring in the defeat at Millwall.

Otherwise, midfielder Alex Gilbey is suspended having received his fifth yellow card of the season at the weekend.
