Crewe are to sign young non-league hot shot Jordan Connerton on a three year deal.

The 20 year old Lancaster City striker has recently had a lengthy trial with the club after being spotted by assistant manager turned chief scout Neil Baker.

With 35 goals to his name already this season Connerton has received plenty of interest from the likes of Morecambe, Motherwell, Leeds, Preston, amongst others.

He will join Carl Martin and Danny Gardner as Dario’s third non-league signing of the season. Martin arrived from Wealdstone in October and has so far made four substitute appearances whilst Gardner was given a deal till the end of the season, arriving from Flixton having previously been on the books of Glasgow Celtic.

Dario though says that Connerton is one to watch. Speaking to crewealex.net, Gradi says that full time training can only improve the young striker:

‘He is a player we have known about for a while and Neil (Baker) has wanted to sign him for a while.

‘He is a bit different to what we have got here because he doesn’t face up all the time. He is always looking for space and those runs in behind. His movement and anticipation is good and he will benefit from full-time training.

‘He is one for the future and will need a bit of time. I don’t think he would be in the team this season and I think he will go back on loan to Lancaster because they are going for promotion, I am happy with that and I am pleased that he will become our players because there was interest from elsewhere.’
