Crewe Alexandra will travel to Evesham United in the second round of the FA Youth Cup following Shrewsbury Town using an overage player in their win over United.

As reported by Shrewsbury Town`s official site last week, they had played a third-year scholar after being given advice by the Competitions Department of the Football Association that the player was eligible to play in the Youth Cup game having been eligible to play for their Under-18 team in the EFL Youth Alliance this season.

After playing the player in the game, which Shrewsbury had won 3-0, the FA changed their stance on the eligibility of the player and disqualified Shrewsbury from the competition for this season.

The second-round tie will take place next Tuesday night with a kick-off of 7.30pm – ticket news will be added to this article once it has been announced. The winners of this tie will be away to either Colchester United in Round 3 after they beat Bishop’s Stortford 5-0 on Monday night.
