Crewe Alexandra have signed young goalkeeper Ross Etheridge on a one-month loan deal from Derby County.

“We will have a look at him in the Under-21s and in training” – Steve Davis

The 20-year-old arrives as cover to regular number one Ben Garratt and following the recent loan departure of the experienced Scott Shearer to Burton Albion.

After originally progressing through the Academy ranks at Pride Park, Etheridge has been a regular for their Under-21 side, while also enjoying loan spells with Ilkeston Town, Gresley and Leek Town.

“We have signed Ross on loan for a month to allow us to have a longer look at him,” manager Steve Davis told Crewe’s official website. “He is still Derby’s player but he could be one for the future. We will have a look at him in the Under-21s and in training and he will offer that cover to Ben.”
