Crewe Alexandra must start better this coming season insists manager Steve Davis.

“We always seem to finish strongly but a good start would make a massive difference” – Steve Davis

A worrying return of just one victory from their opening eleven games certainly set the trend for a difficult campaign and a subsequent long battle against relegation last term.

“What I will be telling the players is that it is important we make a good start, because I cannot remember the last time we did here,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “I want them to try and a get a real platform to build from.

“I want a solid base formed in August, September, October that we can take into Christmas and the second half of the season,” he added. “We always seem to finish strongly but a good start would make a massive difference.”
