With goalkeeper Steve Phillips’ loan deal with the club expiring today, we still await his decision on if he wishes to extend his stay at Gresty Road.

The Bristol Rovers keeper arrived on loan back in November with a view to a permanent deal when the transfer window re-opened. With Rovers allowing Phillips to depart on a free transfer it was his wages that proved a stumbling block last week as he rejected a two and a half year deal at Gresty Road.

Despite earlier saying that he would not entertain a loan extension Dario revealed on Friday that the Somerset born 30 year old may now have had a change of heart.

With his loan deal at the club officially over from tomorrow morning we can probably expect a decision any day now but with Phillips a experienced, good keeper available for free, we may have to ride our luck a bit and hope no-one has the wage budget to tempt Phillips away.
