Crewe Still The Fairest Of Them All?

Despite Ashley Westwood today picking up the club’s fourth red card of the season the Fair Play Award may still find it’s way back to Gresty Road.

It’s one of Dario’s favourite awards, one which the Alex have won on more than 11 occasions in the previous 20 years (I’ve lost count).

It brings in £15,000 in prize money to be shared amongst players and staff at the club as well as the club’s community programme.

Whilst all may have seemed lost for this award as Westwood trundled off this afternoon, never fear.

Crewe have committed over 50 less fouls than their nearest competition. We also have the fewest yellow cards in the three Coca-Cola Division.

So the four reds may come as just a minor scrape – rather than a huge dent – to our chances of re-gaining this prestigious (?) award which was lost under the reign of Gudjon Thordarson.
