Crewe Alexandra are continuing discussions regarding their veteran former striker Ryan Lowe.

The 37-year-old has returned to parent club Bury having scored twice in six appearances for the Railwaymen following his loan arrival in November.

He was expected to be included in the Shakers’ squad for their FA Cup third round tie against Bradford City this weekend.

“When you take a player on loan their situation does depend on what their club want to do and that is the risk you have to take when you take them on loan,” manager Steve Davis told Crewe’s official website. “Ryan has come here, played some games for us and scored a couple of goals. He has done well for us and we have made it known that we would like him to stay.

“We know that he has enjoyed his spell here with us and the dialogue with him and Bury is on going,” he added. “That is not necessary dead and we will continue to discuss his situation with them.”
