Crewe Alexandra slipped to the bottom of the table and are now the only club without a point in the division after their 2-0 defeat at Swindon Town.

Iraq international Yaser Kasim opened the scoring with a 34th minute free-kick and Andy Williams added a second following the break.

Michael Smith also headed against the crossbar for the hosts while Alex keeper Ben Garratt was forced into a number of fine stops.

Goalscorer Kasim and Louis Thompson were both denied by Garratt early on and Brad Smith similarly had an effort turned aside by the young visiting goalkeeper.

But Kasim curled the home side in front after Billy Waters was adjudged to have tripped Thompson, and Smith almost added another early in the second-half – his header only finding the underside of the crossbar.

Another Kasim free-kick was then helped over by Garratt, until Williams fired in from the edge of the area after Lee Molyneux lost possession with thirteen minutes remaining.

Substitute Chris Atkinson replied with a late effort that went wide.
