Crewe Alex are interested in signing Total Network Solutions defender Greg Stones according to assistant manager Neil Baker.

Stones, who is out of contract with the Welsh Premier side, now called The Saints but remain TNS has scored 7 goals in 37 appearances in the Principality Welsh Premier League. The stopper is being lined up due to the inevitable departure of Billy Jones over the summer, and the conversion of Neil Cox to a defensive midfield role. Crewe Assistant Manager Baker told crewealex.net: ‘I think TNS have accepted he is going to move on. We have initially spoken to the lad and he is worth a look at from what I have been told.

The reports we have had are good ones and we’d like him to come soon, although there’s one or two things to sort out – and there would be international clearance to obtain in the long run.’

You don’t need international clearance for a Welsh player, is your assistant manager from another planet or is he always that thick?
