Two players were sent-off as Crewe Alexandra held promotion-chasing Swindon Town to a scoreless draw at Gresty Road.

Both dismissals occurred just before the end with Jack Stephens collecting his second caution of the game for the visitors and Alex defender Alan Tate also departing for a late foul.

Swindon did earlier have the ball in the net when Jordan Turnbull finished after goalkeeper Paul Rachubka parried from Ben Gladwin. However the goalscorer was ruled offside.

Home defender George Ray blocked well to keep out Andy Williams from Nathan Byrne’s assist, while Wes Foderingham saved Greg Leigh’s well-struck shot at the other end.

Fellow loanee Nicky Ajose also lifted over for the Railwaymen and Massimo Luongo did likewise on the end of a weaving solo break in the opposite direction.

Australian international midfielder Luongo then forced another stop from Rachubka prior to the late dismissals, while there were also nine yellow cards issued during a frantic encounter.
