Crewe Alexandra were involved in another high-scoring game as they shared six goals with Bury at Gresty Road.
On loan midfielder Adam King gave them a great start after only three minutes but Danny Mayor equalised midway through the opening half.
However, Ryan Colclough restored the home lead, only for Tom Soares to level right on the stroke of half-time.
Bury then went in front for the first time through Danny Rose before Brad Inman tied it up again with just ten minutes remaining.
The Railwaymen had struck the first blow as Chris Hussey failed to clear and young midfielder King slotted into the corner.
A defensive slip should have soon realised an equaliser but neither Tom Pope nor Rose could profit as goalkeeper Ben Garratt saved twice.
It still arrived when winger Mayor collected from Hussey and slipped the ball under Garratt, although Colclough was then on the end of Billy Bingham’s free-kick to reclaim the lead.
But more weak defensive work witnessed Soares drawing the visitors level, and Rose’s finish just before the hour appeared to leave them firmly on the front foot.
Home keeper Garratt denied them further reward and Inman made that really count when bursting clear and finding the bottom corner late on.
