Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis was expecting a tough challenge against Coventry City this weekend.

“The players will have confidence from the fact that we have beaten one of the biggest clubs in our league before” – Steve Davis

The Railwaymen travel to the Sky Blues’ temporary home at Northampton Town to face the dangerous forward partnership of Leon Clarke and Callum Wilson, who both missed their recent FA Cup tie with Hartlepool United.

“We watched Coventry at Hartlepool last weekend and without their two main strikers they played a different system,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “I am sure Clarke and Wilson will be back to lead the line against us.

“We did face them four times last season but it is different teams at a different ground now, so that doesn’t count for too much, although the players will have confidence from the fact that we have beaten one of the biggest clubs in our league before.”
