Crewe Progress In Cheshire Cup

Crewe move into the next round of the Cheshire County FA Premier Challenge Cup after a 3-2 win over a young Stockport side.

In the match which saw assistant manager Neil Baker take charge of a strong reserve side Crewe dominated throughout, in a good game of flowing, passing football.

It took until the second half to make the break-through however with 3 quick fire goals coming from Junior Daniel and Ben Rix. Stockport scored 2 goals after that but never really looked like winning the game.

Positives

There was good support from the few people that were there, a good continuation of the Holland Out protests and a banner made it up at the top too. Well done to everyone!

Luke Murphy looks to have good potential in the centre of midfield. He was winning the 50/50 balls and getting stuck into the opposition. Westwood looked OK at the back too.

There seemed to be a good few shots from outside of the box, which is nice to see. Crewe looked good moving forward with good passing and pace.

The two goals by Daniel were great goals. Great passing in the build up play, just like old Crewe!

Negatives

Elding completed the full 90 minutes for the Alex but had completely lost interest by the second half. His touch was lacking and he wasn’t really involved in the end. It did look like he picked up knocks on two separate occasions though, so he may have a good excuse. At the moment he is no where near the first team.

None of the players that played last night looked close enough to the first team for my liking. Colin Daniel looked OK when he got the ball and had plenty of pace, but isn’t good enough to make the break through yet.
