Brad Inman missed a last-minute penalty as Crewe Alexandra crashed to a 2-1 defeat against ten-man Blackpool at Gresty Road.

Striker Jack Redshaw headed the visitors in front but was then sent-off following a challenge on David Fox prior to the break.

The Railwaymen drew level late on through Marcus Haber, only for their opponents to immediately restore their advantage with Tom Aldred’s deflected effort.

However, Alex substitute Tom Hitchcock was fouled by Brad Potts during the closing moments and Inman wastefully hoisted his spot-kick over the crossbar.

Inman had already fired against the legs of goalkeeper Colin Doyle when sent clear, and the visitors reacted with Jim McAlister heading Danny Philliskirk’s cross onto the bar and Redshaw following in for the opener.

Crewe’s Zoumana Bakayogo was twice denied by the woodwork at the other end and Blackpool’s Potts similarly frustrated before Philliskirk blazed over.

But Haber guided in Oliver Turton’s 83rd minute delivery to the near post to equalise before Aldred swiftly replied and Inman then missed his golden late opportunity.
