Crewe Alexandra have brought in former Port Vale goalkeeper Joe Anyon on a short-term arrangement.

“We are aware of the qualities he possesses from his time with Port Vale” – Steve Davis

The 28-year-old has agreed non-contract terms having been a free-agent since being released by Shrewsbury Town.

He was expected to be on the bench and acting as understudy to Ben Garratt for the weekend game at Notts County.

“He isn’t totally there fitness-wise because he has been without a club since the summer,” manager Steve Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “But we are aware of the qualities he possesses from his time with Port Vale and a couple of other clubs after that.”
