Crewe Alexandra have ground to make up at the bottom of the table as they host Wigan Athletic this weekend.

The Railwaymen are looking for a first win in five games, including four defeats, which has in turn left them seven points from immediate safety.

They expect to stay unchanged with striker Callum Saunders pushing for inclusion on the bench having recovered from a throat infection.

Skipper Harry Davis (knee), fellow centre-back George Ray and striker Lauri Dalla Valle (both ankle) remain unavailable.

Wigan have a doubt over Northern Ireland international Will Grigg due to a hip problem.

But Chris McCann has recovered from a broken toe and Kevin McNaughton (knee) is similarly back in training, although not yet ready for a recall.

The Latics have already defeated Crewe twice this season, including a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy triumph at Gresty Road in September.
