Crewe Alexandra lifted themselves above the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw at Peterborough United.
Striker Lauri Dalla Valle fired them into a very early lead with his third goal in five games, although their opponents replied courtesy of Conor Washington midway through the second-half.
The Railwaymen couldn’t have had a better start to a contest from which they really needed to take something. Nicky Ajose chipped in a ball against his former club and Dalla Valle turned and drove past Ben Alnwick.
The visitors created further opportunities with Ollie Turton (twice), Greg Leigh, Marcus Haber and Ajose threatening ahead of the interval, while Marcus Maddison was always dangerous at the other end.
However, Peterborough actually had to wait until 66 minutes for their equaliser and first goal in over eight hours of football.
Alex keeper Paul Rachubka parried from the lively Maddison and Washington seized upon the rebound to bring the sides back level.
Goalscorer Washington later had a close-range effort saved and Maddison continued to be a regular threat as the hosts tried to keep their play-off ambitions alive.
