It seems as though the Alex have missed out on defensive target Ryan Cresswell with the Bury defender set to join Rotherham.

The 22 year old is thought to have been Dario’s prime target having reportedly had talks with the club at Reaseheath training ground a couple of weeks ago.

Whilst talks seemed to go well, the giant defender fielded other interest – having also had offers from current club Bury, his home town club Rotherham and League Two newcomers Oxford United. Ultimately he looks to have decided to stay local, apparently penning a 3 year contract with Rotherham this week.

It’s a blow for the Alex after Dario seemed to single out Cresswell as his main target of the summer after weeks of looking for a new centre half.

It’ll be back to the drawing board for Dario, Davis and Baker, though Peterborough’s Exodus Geohaghon continues to be linked with a move to Gresty Road.
