Crewe Alexandra collected what could prove a very important point with a determined 0-0 draw against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The visitors started well with skipper Matt Tootle dragging wide and Mathias Pogba also threatening on a couple of occasions. Meanwhile, Wade Elliott couldn’t direct his reply on target.

Striker Pogba next headed a Jon Guthrie corner behind and Uche Ikpeazu struck wide before crossing for Pogba to be blocked by a covering defender.

Both sides were struggling to fashion clear opportunities and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas drove straight at Ben Garratt following the interval. His opposite number Simon Moore was then hardly tested by Guthrie.

Robins striker Sam Baldock later headed wide when left unattended before Anthony Grant was wayward for the visitors and Tootle screwed an even better chance across the face of goal as the deadlock continued.
