Crewe Alexandra gained a point at home to Wigan Athletic but remain consigned to the bottom of the table.

Reece Wabara volleyed the visitors in front from around twenty-five yards before Brad Inman replied close to the break with his third goal in two games.

Ryan Colclough also struck the woodwork for the home side, who are now eight points from safety with a game in hand.

Colclough already forced an early save at his near post from Jussi Jaaskelainen, but his colleagues slipped into arrears as Wabara found the far corner on sixteen minutes.

However, Alex equalised with a couple of minutes remaining of the opening half after a flowing move allowed Colclough to release Inman to finish high into the net.

The Latics had an escape moments later when the lively Colclough clipped the bar – but were to be denied by the woodwork themselves as Yanic Wildschut found only the far post.

Home keeper Ben Garratt also twice thwarted Wildschut and the Dutchman later headed another opportunity onto the roof of the net.
