Crewe Alexandra would go above latest opponents Gillingham with victory at Gresty Road this weekend.

Striker Lauri Dalla Valle is ready for his first appearance since returning to the club after overcoming an ankle injury.

However, George Ray remains suspended and skipper Matt Tootle has an ankle problem, while midfielder Brad Inman missed training through illness. But experienced centre-back Adam Dugdale could recover from a knee injury.

Gillingham are without a manager following the departure of Peter Taylor, with a four-man caretaker management team now in place.

Striker John Marquis may start after arriving on loan from Millwall, while defensive pair John Egan (foot) and Joe Martin (calf) are doubtful.

Midfielders Aaron Morris and Amine Linganzi are still out with hamstring trouble, and on loan Michael Doughty has been recalled by Queens Park Rangers.
