Former Millwall and Swindon Town goalkeeper Rhys Evans could be one of the Alex’s main targets.

The shot stopper is reported to be interesting the Alex following his released from Millwall earlier this month, and could be one of the four ‘keepers offered terms by Steve Holland.

Holland yesterday revealed that four keepers, including Ben Williams and Owain Fon Williams from the current crop, had been offered contracts and the first to accept would be first choice ‘keeper for next season. However, with the two Williams’ looking increasingly likely to reject it seems down to the ‘outside’ two.

One of those is Gretna’s young stopper Greg Fleming, who’s been chased by SPL sides, whilst the second is thought to be Rhys Evans, who has recently had a spell at Millwall.

Evans, a Chelsea youth product, helped the Lions secure League One safety after signing in January on a free from Blackpool and playing 21 games. Evans has previously spent three years at Swindon where he made over 120 games.

He’s said to be a good shot stopper but suspect at commanding his area. Sigh.
