Crewe Alexandra are leading the race for Aldershot Town striker Danny Hylton according to reports.

“It’s time for me to experience something new and a move away gives me a chance to kick on” – Danny Hylton

The 24-year-old marksman is set to leave the Hampshire club when his contract runs out at the end of next month after originally progressing through their youth system.

Hylton scored a dozen times in 32 appearances for the Shots last season but couldn’t save them from relegation back into the Conference.

The Alex’s League One rivals Crawley Town are another club keen on the London-born striker but rumours persist of an imminent move to Gresty Road.

“Unfortunately, it’s time to move on and see what else is out there,” Hylton previously told the Aldershot News & Mail. “I’ve been at Aldershot for seven or eight years and as much as I love the club you just know when your time is up.

“It’s time for me to experience something new and a move away gives me a chance to kick on and push myself to play at the highest level I possibly can,” he added. “I’ve had one or two offers to go in the past but I’ve always stayed loyal to the club and I hope the fans can see that I gave 100 per cent in every game I played for the club.”
