Crewe Alexandra are currently in talks with Arsenal midfielder Chuks Aneke over a return to Gresty Road.

“The quality, creativity and goalscoring ability he’s got was apparent to everybody” – Steve Davis

The 20-year-old scored eight times in 38 games on loan for the Alex last season and manager Steve Davis would like to secure a return for the England Under-19 international.

“I’ve had dialogue with Chuks, he’s been in Asia. So we’ll just check out that position there,” Davis told BBC Radio Stoke. “He did terrific for us last season. I think initially people didn’t see his quality, but over time he came to fruition and his fitness was much better.

“The quality, creativity and goalscoring ability he’s got was apparent to everybody,” he added. “He’s the creative player that [Luke] Murphy was and we could do with that type.”
