Crewe Alexandra were thrashed by MK Dons for the second time this season after the visitors moved top of the table with a 5-0 rout at Gresty Road.
The Railwaymen had been looking for revenge following a 6-1 loss to the same opponents back in September, but instead found themselves on the end of another big defeat.
On loan Manchester City striker Devante Cole scored twice for the visitors and Dean Bowditch, Carl Baker and Daniel Powell were similarly on target.
Teenager Cole opened their account after Dean Bowditch had been denied by Ben Garratt and Bowditch soon added another with an expertly chipped finish from Darren Potter’s pass.
Goalscorer Powell then set up Cole – son of former Manchester United striker Andrew – for his second ahead of the break.
Crewe tried to reply with on loan midfielder Jamie Ness going close with a free-kick and substitute Anthony Stewart testing Dons keeper David Martin.
However, Baker struck a fourth goal into the far corner on 72 minutes before then hitting the crossbar, although Powell still added another with a low drive in the final minute.
