Crewe failed with an attempt to sign Brighton goalkeeper Michel Kuipers. The Dutchman’s agent had told the club that he was available on a free transfer, and was even willing to undergo a trial prior to any move.

However, Brighton manager Mark McGhee blocked the move claiming that he doesn’t want Kuipers to leave. As a result, Crewe goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson will remain at the club, instead of the proposed loan move to Burton Albion.

The transfer window is now officially closed until January 1st, but short term loan signings are permitted as of 8th September.
