Crewe Alexandra earned their second league win of the season with Febian Brandy and George Cooper both on target against ten-man Coventry City.
Brandy gave the home side the lead before the half-hour and teenager Cooper soon added a second ahead of the break.
However, Anthony Grant diverted in Danny Pugh’s free-kick early in the second period and the visitors saw Jack Finch dismissed late on.
George Ray threatened on a couple of early occasions for the hosts while goalkeeper Ben Garratt saved from John Fleck and Josh McQuoid at the other end.
The Railwaymen went in front as Ollie Turton released Brandy to fire through the legs of keeper Ryan Allsop.
Six minutes later Cooper curled in a second from a free-kick awarded on the edge of the area after himself being fouled.
The recalled Brad Inman soon drove at Allsop while Simeon Jackson, Jim O’Brien and Fleck sent replies wide.
However, Coventry struck straight after the restart with Grant deflecting in Pugh’s free-kick.
Fleck then drilled wide as the visitors sensed a recovery and continued to force their opponents onto the back foot.
Goalscorer Brandy sent an attempt directly at Allsop in reply before Finch was sent-off for a second caution after catching Brandy as the home side remained firm
