Manager Steve Davis is looking to bring another striker into his squad.

“It might be that we have to wait until January” – Steve Davis

However, the Alex chief may be forced to wait until January due to current financial restraints at Gresty Road.

Davis conceded he’d overspent on his budget last year when recruiting Nicky Ajose on loan from Leeds United.

“We’ve made a few enquiries, I think they’ve been positive,” he said in the Stoke Sentinel. “But players such as Ajose are not about all that easily.

“We went slightly over last season because of his loan so we have to stay within it this time so it might be that we have to wait until January,” Davis added. “Hopefully we can do something before the deadline next week, but that will depend on who’s available and how much it would cost us to do it.”
