Crewe’s attempts to sign a left-back on loan have been hit by his club’s involvement in Europe this week. Crewe have targetted two left backs in the past week – one as a short-term loan signing, and another as a potential permanent signing in January.

Crewe’s Assistant Manager Neil Baker revealed, ‘The left-back is less likely for this weekend as his club has been playing in Europe, so that’s held things up there, although we are still trying to get one in. Because of the uncertainties over who we might get, we have had to toy with one or two permutations this week, although things are much clearer now.’

As a result of the delay, Crewe are reported to have spoken to Liverpool, Man Utd and Blackburn about loaning a left-back.
