With four points from their last couple of games, Crewe Alexandra begin a crucial festive period with a visit from Shrewsbury Town this weekend.

“If they can do that on a regular basis then that would be a real bonus” – Steve Davis

Striker Vadaine Oliver is back in contention having completed a one-match ban following his sending-off in the recent win against Crawley Town, although on loan pair Chuks Aneke and Tom Hitchcock appear favourites to continue in attack.

“It is a little too early to judge Tom and Chuks as a partnership but there were promising signs. It was one game but they combined well and both made assists for each others goals,” manager Steve Davis told
Crewe’s official website. “They know they are in the team to create and score goals and if they can do that on a regular basis then that would be a real bonus.”

Meanwhile, fellow striker Mathias Pogba (knee) remains out alongside goalkeeper Steve Phillips (shoulder), midfielder Ollie Turton (knee) and forward Max Clayton (ankle).

Former Welsh international and Cardiff City winger Paul Parry is doubtful for the visitors with a hamstring problem.
