There have been two games played on March 9th this century.

The first came in 2010 with a home game against Grimsby Town at the Alexandra Stadium. Byron Moore gave the hosts the lead in the 29th minute with Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro levelling the score 3 minutes later. Joel Grant gave Crewe the lead again on 35 minutes with Dean Sinclair equalising before the break. Second-half goals from Ashley Westwood and Clayton Donaldson confirmed the win for the Railwaymen.

The other game was a trip to Colchester United`s Weston Homes Community Stadium 5 years ago. A Luke Murphy penalty gave the visitors the lead in the 25th minute with George Porter levelling 3 minutes prior to half-time before Mathias Pogba scored the winner with 18 minutes to play.
