There have been four competitive fixtures on August 22nd in the 25-year period, taking place in 2000, 2006, 2009 and 2015.

Starting with the game in 2000 where we Bury in the League Cup. Darren Bullock and Adrian Littlejohn gave the visitors a 2-goal lead before late goals from Steve Foster and Mark Rivers levelled the score on the night with Crewe winning the 2nd leg 2-1 at Gigg Lane a couple of weeks later.

Onto 2006 where Crewe travelled to Blundell Park to play against Grimsby in the League Cup. Nicky Maynard gave Crewe the lead on 38 minutes before second-half goals from Michael O`Connor and Ryan Lowe (pen) gave Crewe a third-round home tie against Manchester United.

In 2009, Crewe Alexandra hosted Hereford at the Alexandra Stadium with Billy Jones scoring the only goal of the game.

The final game is another home game against Bury in 2015. Adam King gave the Railwaymen the lead in the 3rd minute before Danny Mayor levelled mid-way through the first half. Ryan Colclough gave Crewe the lead again with Tom Soares levelling on the stroke of half-time with Danny Rose giving the visitors the lead just before the hour-mark before Brad Inman levelled the score with 10 minutes to go.
