There have only been two competitive fixtures on August 16th in the 25-year period, taking place in 2002 and 2013.

Starting with the game in 2002 where we hosted Colchester United at the Alexandra Stadium. Rob Hulse gave the Railwaymen the lead after 9 minutes before Lee Bell added a second off the bench in the 81st minute.

The other game came in 2013 as we hosted Tranmere Rovers. Ryan Colclough gave the Railwaymen the lead in the 42nd minute with him doubling the lead with 5 minutes of the game to go. Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro scored with 3 minutes to go to set up a nervy finish but the hosts hung on.
