In this column, we look at how Crewe Alexandra have done on this day in the previous 20 years.

2013 – Yeovil Town 1-0 Crewe:

The only game that occurred in the last 20 years happened 7 years ago with a trip to Huish Park to face Yeovil. Defender Joe Edwards gave the hosts the lead after 51 seconds with neither team able to add to that goal. Future Yeovil goalkeeping coach Steve Phillips was in net for the Alex for the full game while future Town striker AJ Leitch-Smith played the first 65 minutes.

Alex: Phillips; Tootle, Davis, Ellis, Mellor; Moore, Aneke (Colclough 63), Osman, Inman; Clayton (Turton 86), Leitch-Smith (Ellington 65)

Going back further in time, Crewe lost 2-0 at home to Rotherham United in 1996 (Shaun Goodwin and Nigel Jemson getting their goals that day) while you’d have to go back another 3 years on top of that to find our last victory, a 1-0 home win against Scunthorpe United back in 1993.
