Crewe Alexandra have announced the signing of Michael Raynes, with the defender joining in July after the end of his contract with Carlisle United. He becomes the second signing of the week after the permanent signing of Jordan Bowery and has signed a 2 year deal with the option of a third year.
Raynes, 29, started his career with our Cheshire rivals Stockport County where he made his debut as a 17-year-old against Swansea in December 2004 before becoming a regular later in that season.
After spells at Scunthorpe United, Rotherham United, Oxford United and Mansfield Town, he joined Carlisle United in July 2015 where he made 95 appearances in all competitions, scoring 6 goals in the process. He was part of the Carlisle team that lost 6-5 on aggregate to Exeter City in the last couple of weeks.
