Crewe Alexandra have agreed a three-year deal with Newcastle United midfielder Brad Inman.

“It is a great signing to strengthen the team now and a great asset for the future” – Steve Davis

The highly-rated 21-year-old recently turned down new terms at St James’ Park in a bid to find regular first-team football.

Scottish Under-21 international Inman already impressed during a loan spell at Crewe when scoring eight goals in 26 appearances last season.

The Railwaymen have since being trying to bring him back and appear set to avoid a tribunal decision after the Magpies accepted their fourth and final offer – with clauses, believed to be worth more than £100,000. A deal should be finalised within the next couple of days

“We’re just waiting for the financial agreement to come back but it has all been agreed. Thankfully it has all been sorted,” manager Steve Davis told This is Staffordshire. “All credit to the club and the chairman John Bowler first and foremost for backing me through this long winded process. We have stayed patient.

“It is a great signing to strengthen the team now and a great asset for the future. He will be a very good player for Crewe Alexandra,” he added. “And credit to Brad, too. We talk about people who have been working hard to make this happen, but also himself.”
