Coventry See Off Alex In Under-23s Clash After Comeback

|

A first-half goal from Daniel Powell followed by one from first-year scholar Connor Salisbury just before the hour was not enough for the young Crewe Alexandra Under-23s team as Coventry fought back in the final quarter of the game to win at Reaseheath this afternoon.

Manager Alex Morris named Sam Booth in goal with a back 4 of Fenton Green, Eddie Nolan, trialist Alex Bruce and Nathan Woodthorpe, in front of them were Regan Griffiths, Joe Levey and Joe Robbins with a front 3 of Daniel Powell, Salisbury and Tyreece Onyeka.

The Alex would take the lead just before the half-hour through Powell who fired one into the bottom corner before Salisbury would score on his debut at this level on 59 minutes. Substitute David Bremang would get the first Sky Blues goal with 20 minutes to play with the visitors leveling 10 minutes later. The comeback was complete with Blaine Rowe scoring in the final minute.

The next games for the Alex at this level will be a trip to Barnsley next Tuesday at 2 pm before playing against Witton Albion in the Cheshire Senior Cup first round the following Tuesday.
