Crewe Alexandra defender Matt Tootle will be seeking more consistency in his performances for the forthcoming season.

“It affected me a lot when I was in and out” – Matt Tootle

The versatile 22-year-old still appeared 44 times last term while also claiming his second-ever senior goal in more than 150 games for the club during a 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient in September.

“I just want to be consistent, after I got injured last season I had a couple of months when I wasn’t quite on it,” Tootle told Crewe’s official website.”That can happen to any player, but I want to make sure I keep churning out performances and play as many games as I can.

“I have got a preference for right back, but it’s not that important to me,” he added. “What I did find out towards the end of last season is how important it is to me to be in the team, it affected me a lot when I was in and out.”
