Former Southend United goalkeeper Steve Collis verbally agrees to sign for Crewe. The 27 year old had talks with the club two weeks ago and signaled his intent to sign for the Alex last week, he now now revealed that he should be a Crewe player by Tuesday.

Collis is set to become the Alex’s number one keeper following the departure of Ben Williams this month, who left for Carlisle last week.

Collis told superalex.co.uk: ‘I’ve spoken to Crewe and it has all been agreed for me to sign on July 1. I don’t way to say any more, though, until I’ve actually signed the contract.’

Collis played 25 games for play-off chasing Southend last season and his departure this summer took Shrimpers fans by surprise. He has previously played for Yeovil Town.
