Former Southend goalkeeper Steve Collis signs a 2 year deal at Crewe to become signing number 4 this summer.

The 27 year old shot stopper was released at the end of the last campaign by Southend after making 25 appearances for the Shrimpers in there unsuccessful play-off season to the surprise of the fans down south.

Steve Collis will take the number 1 spot at the Alexandra stadium next season after Ben Williams moved on to Carlisle and Owain Fon Williams stalled at the chance to become the first choice keeper.

Collis started his career at Barnet before moving on to Nottingham Forest. Steve had to wait until the next move to Yeovil though before he could make some first team appearances. While at Yeovil he made 48 appearances before moving onto Southend in the Summer of 2006.

The signing of Collis should complete the list of ‘first team` goalkeepers contracted to the club with Adam Legzdins and Stuart Tomlinson finishing the line-up.

The future of Owain Fon Williams is still in the balance however.
