Clubs Show Interest In Woody

Stoke, Derby, Walsall and Crystal Palace are said to be interested in want away defender Danny Woodards.

The right back was transfer listed, along with midfielder Gary Roberts, last month after rejecting a contract extension. With only a year left on his deal the Alex are keen to cash in on Woody.

Dario Gradi has already revealed that there had not been any interest in either Woodards or Roberts, but Woodards’s adviser says otherwise. Speaking to superalex.co.uk, Tony Finnigan says he has spoken to a few clubs, with also interest from Crystal Palace.

Finnigan said: ‘No-one has made a bid for Danny, but there’s been a few tentative inquiries and I have had a few conversations.

‘Crewe have put him up for sale, but done little else. So Stoke, Derby and Walsall are among the clubs I’ve spoken to.’

Woodards has been one of the Alex’s most consistent performers since signed for £30,000 from Exeter City in January 2007. The former Chelsea youth should command a fee of around £100,000.
