Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis believes a stand should be named after his predecessor at Gresty Road.

“Name the big stand after him, which was his baby, his idea” – Steve Davis

Davis says there should be a lasting tribute to honour the 30th anniversary of the historic arrival of former boss Dario Gradi.

Gradi was appointed as manager 30 years ago today and steered the club from regular re-election candidates in the Fourth Division to eight heady seasons in the second tier of the professional game.

“I don’t think Dario would appreciate a statue, but maybe to name the big stand after him, which was his baby, his idea, would be a great thing for him,” Davis told This is Staffordshire. “The reason I named the team full of academy players was really a tribute to him. That’s why I did it.”
