Club Dismiss Season Ticket Reports

The club have dimissed reports that only 600 season tickets had been sold, saying that sales are on course to match last season’s sales.

Reports last week suggested that the club were struggling for custom for season tickets, but today the club have issued a scathing statement dismissing the newspaper reports.

Appearing on the official site, it said: ‘The club are hugely disappointed by the figure quoted in the local press because it has taken a shine off of what has been a fairly eventful pre-season campaign with the new signings and the coaching re-shuffle, which has seen Steve Holland bring some fresh ideas into the equation.

‘Following relegation from a higher league and a mid-table finish, it is difficult enough as it is to attract support to any Football Club and inaccurate reporting hardly helps matters. The club has desperately tried to lift the feel-good factor again after finishing outside the play-offs.’

Press officer Rob Wilson also spoke out against the reports in the local newspaper: ‘We don’t know where that figure has come from. The newspaper has told us that it has come from an apparent club source, well all we can say is it didn’t come from the one person who actually knows the exact figure and that is Bev Dyer in our Ticket Office.

‘I don’t think this ‘club source’ could have been further from the mark if he or she tried because we had actually sold more than 600 season tickets before the end of May!’

After much talk on message boards about the reported figure, I’m sure many fans will be pleased to hear season ticket sales have gone better than reported.
