An X-ray on Nicky Maynard’s leg reveals it is a clean break to the fibula and he is likely to be sidelined for about 3-4 months. All at Crewe Vital wish him a speedy recovery.

The Winsford born striker went down in agony just after Gary Roberts first half equaliser last Saturday as he chased down Brighton defender Kerry Mayo.

Earlier analysis of the injury had shown ligament damage but further tests yesterday have revealed no damage to ligaments which will be a relief to Nicky and the club.

As reported at the weekend, the club look set to delve in to the loan market and Lee Barnard is expected to be drafted in on a six month loan deal from Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur.
