Crewe Alexandra have announced the signing of experienced striker Chris Porter from Colchester United on a 2 year deal with the option of a third. He becomes manager David Artell‘s third signing of the summer after the permanent signings of Jordan Bowery and Michael Raynes.

Porter, 33, started his career at Bury where he made his debut as a substitute against Macclesfield Town in 2003 and scored his first professional goal in the following season at home to Scunthorpe early in that season.

After 2 years at Bury, where he scored 18 in 71 league appearances, he had spells at Oldham Athletic, Motherwell, Derby County and Sheffield United before joining Colchester in 2015.

He has scored 141 goals in just under 500 career appearances.
