It’s take two for Crewe vs Carlisle on Tuesday night after the match was postponed controversially earlier this month due to a frozen pitch. The 2pm postponement was taken to the Football League by Carlisle after they felt the referee hadn’t done his job correctly.

The game shouldn’t be in any doubt on Tuesday night though as both teams look for a vital three points. Carlisle could move second with a win whilst the Alex will need the points to pull themselves away from the relegation zone and nearer to the ‘mid table pack’.

We can probably feel confident about the game too. Despite being a top four team, Carlisle are really relying on their home form as they have a away record that is only one win better than our own. They haven’t won an away game since a 1-0 win at Southend way back at the end of October.

Crewe’s own performances too will provide confidence for a win. The team will still feel robbed from a last minute goal at Leeds that forced a 1-1 draw, despite a performance that out matched the ‘giants’ of the division for most of the game.

The signings of Kenny Lunt and Gary Roberts really seemed to have freshened things up at Gresty Road, and with only one defeat in the last six there is little talk of relegation at the moment.

Vital Quotes:

Crewe Alexandra Team News:

George Abbey and loanee Gary Roberts both picked up knocks on Saturday but Steve Holland believes both will make the game. Danny Woodards is still a few days from fitness.

Otherwise it looks to be the same team that faced Leeds.

Player to watch: Gary Roberts (loanee)

Carlisle United Team News:

Former loanee Chris Lumsdon is back after a suspension whilst Scott Dobie has recovered from a hamstring injury. Paul Thirlwell is doubtful.

Player to watch: Joe Garner

The Lancashire born striker has 14 goals this season and scored the only goal of the game when the Alex visited Carlisle in January.
