Wealdstone defender Carl Martin has joined the Alex on trial as Gudjon still looks to bolster the back line.

The 22 year old is highly rated in the lower leagues (according to the official site) claiming the award for young player of the season in 2007 for Wealdstone.

Martin will be assessed in training over the coming week but has already made an impression on Alex assistant manager Steve Davis.

Davis spoke to the official site ‘He is quick and strong and has good tricks. He has been really positive with his attitude and hasn’t sat back and let anyone get the better of him. He has been aggressive and determined to show us what he can do.’

‘He has put himself about and has been very positive in everything he has done. He is very athletic and comes with a high reputation because he has done well for Wealdstone over the last few years. He is still only young and can develop, so we will continue to assess him this week but he looks a good player and a decent prospect.’

Wealdstone obviously seem keen to get a deal done with money upfront and then a probable substantial sell on fee.

Meanwhile, French trailist Max Chanot remains at the club, and looks set to feature in tomorrow nights friendly against Birmingham.
